This weekend saw Thurrock Harriers young athletes compete in the London Games at Lee Valley on Saturday and Sunday.

Under 13 girl Fumi Adewole, gained a PB in the 60m with a time of 9.24s and a SB in the 200m with a time of 32.26s.
First year, Under 15 girl Sola Taiwo did well, jumping a SB 4.56m in Long Jump. As did, Ruby Bridger, who also gained a PB in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 9.92m and a SB in the shot Put with a throw of 6.41m. Chloe Locke, another 1st year Under 15, took home 2 PBs on the day, throwing 7.37m in Shot and jumping 3.30m in Long Jump. Funminyi Olajide jumped 4.55m a SB in Long Jump, gained another SB in high Jump with 1.50m and a PB in the 200m with a time of 27.54s. Lola Omowanile came 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.40m, a SB and ran the 60m in 8.36s, a PB for Lola.
Under 15 boy, Oluwagbenga Adewole gained 2 PBs on the day, after jumping 3.24m in the Long Jump and running the 200m in 32.56s.
First year Under 17 girl, Jessica Whitbread also took part in field events jumping 9.39m in the triple jump and 4.55m in the Long Jump.
Under 17 girl, Seniz Jessener took part in the triple jump, taking home a SB jump of 8.56m in her first competition of the year.
First year, Under 17 boys also did well. Charlie Splarn ran a SB in the 60m with a time of 7.50s, hot on the heels of William Adeyeye who ran a PB in the same race gaining a time of 7.34s. William also came 1st in Shot putt, this was his 1st time throwing 5kg, achieving a PB of 13.86m. He is currently ranking 1st place in Essex and the East and 4th on the UK.
