This Weekend Results…..

In a weekend that included their AGM Thurrock’s athletes had a busy time. Top performance came from Gemma Holloway who goes from strength to strength. She won the women’s under 20 race at the Home Counties International held in Edinburgh. Men’s endurance team competed in the County Road Relay Championships on Dovercourt Sea Front on Saturday. The V50 team brought back bronze medals. It was made up with John and Paul Green and Don Lawless. The fastest of the 3 was Paul Green with a time 19m04s. The senior men’s team was incomplete. Tim and Keith Martin returned useful times to add to Jon Metcalf’s opening lap of 19m29s. All the times of the 6 athletes who made the trip had times within the 19m04s and 19m31s. Keith Willett was the club’s first finisher in the Brentwood half marathon. 3,000 runners started the race and Keith finished 60th in 83m21s. Toby Draper was next 18 places behind in 85m14s. Both these times are well under 40m for 10k pace. Tim Martin’s 119 position should give him great satisfaction. His 88m14s time was faster than his best 10k place a year ago. Other finishers were Kirk Bundy in 97m19s and the injured Victoria Peacock in 109m40s. Mick Bumstead, still competitive at 64, achieved his target at Saturday’s Parkrun by eclipsing Crispian Bloomfield’s record age/time percentage of 82.4% by recording 84.56%,...
