Harriers Success

This weekend the club’s seniors tackle the fifth and final SAL match, hoping to clinch promotion to Division 2. They are unbeaten hitherto, but this time faces closest rivals Harlow. The club must finish 1st or 2nd in the match to top the league. With this in mind every effort is being made to field the strongest teams to cover the matches 38 events. The Watford open meeting last week saw 3 good personal bests from the club endurance section.  800m races were on the programme and 3 personal bests were returned. Alec Finch was pleased with his 1m57.85s as was Sarah Brockley with her 2m32.42s effort. Gemma Holloway is closing in on the club’s 800m record and returned the 3rd fastest female time in the club’s history with 2:07:98 just 8 tenths shy of Jessica Judd’s best. Jason Syrett’s 6th spot in the Crown to Crown was his highest position to date and follows on from several good efforts in recent Parkruns. As the Winter season approaches the club has been surprised to discover a shortfall in the under 13 sections (boys and girls). The club’s coaches intend to hold trials for keen young endurance runners who are aged 11 or over, or who turn 11 in the next 3 months. Would the parents of any children who fit this description please email At the South of England...
