Theo Adesina to represent England

Thurrock Harriers Athlete Theo Adesina triumphed this weekend at the ESAA national combined events at Exeter where he donned the Essex vest and brought home a Silver Medal! Theo gained a Silver medal with a whopping pentathlon Final PB score of 3184 points!! Now ranking him 2nd in the country! Making him eligible for England selection. The highlight of the day for Theo was the High jump! Theo gained a massive 7cm increase on his PB, jumping 1.85cm, which now ranks him 2nd the country for his age group. Theo also gained a SB in the 800m with a time of 2.15.01s and placed 2nd in the long jump with a jump of 6.42m. Theo now gets to represent England in Ireland. Along with this Theo was part of the U15 Junior Boys who also became the National Team Pentathlon Champions, they also broke the British all time record by over 150 points! Amazing achievement! Not only does Theo have an amazing drive to be the best by putting all he can into his training and competitions, he is well known for his chatty ways and smiley face, brightening up everyone he meets day! Thurrock Harriers U17m win

Thurrock Harriers young athletes took part in the EYAL plate final today at Jarmens athletic track Hemel Hempstead, after taking on some big clubs such as Basildon and Chelmsford throughout the season to earn their place they made it comfortably in the plate final. The U17m triumphed in their section coming first and winning the sought after trophy (see picture attached although some of the team are missing) Although the final results aren’t fully published, Thurrock came 4th overall, which is a great achievement highlighting that the club and its athletes are moving up the rankings and becoming a club to worried about when up against them in track and field. Coaches and committee members would like to congratulate all the athletes for this achievement and thank them for all their hard work and determination. ISA National Championships 2016

Leisha Hunt 13 from Gosfield who trains at Thurrock Harriers was competing in the Independent schools associations national championships in Birmingham and through the the torrential rain and howling winds managed to bring 3 medals home to Essex. English School Regional finals /Youth Development League

English Schools regional combined championships at Peterborough A number of Thurrock Harrier athletes represented Essex at the English Schools regional combined championship at Peterborough on Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th. In the boys team was Theo Adesina who won the competition overall with a PB total points of 2978, which still ranks him as number one in the UK for this year and 36th in the UK on the all time list and 3rd in the East all time list. His other results were 11.90s in hurdles, 11.66m in shot, 6.29m in LJ, 1.71m in HJ and 2.16s in 800m. Also representing Essex was Daniel Ogutaga who came 7th overall with total points of 2019. His other results were, 13.9s in hurdles, 8.85m in shot, 5.52m in LJ, 1.47m in HJ and 2.35s in 800m. Both Theo and Daniel be going to the national finals later on this year representing the East Anglian region. Sola Taiwo was also in the Essex girls team as a guest, she came 7th overall out of 28 girls from the Anglian region. She achieved a total PB points of 2563, her other results were 12.20s in hurdles, 7.07m in shot, 4.57m in LJ, 1.46m PB in HJ and 2.42s in 800m. All at Thurrock Harriers are very proud that they are representing Essex, all results from the hard work they put in, is paying off....

Open Pentathlon Hemel Hempstead

Fantastic results from the Thurrock Harriers young athletes at Open Pentathlon at Hemel Hempstead last weekend. For many it was their first taste of competition and did well to dominate the high positions. For the U11G, Emily Renshaw came first with PB of 8.9s in 55m hurdles, 0.94m in HJ, 2.76m in LJ, 3.79m in Shot, 2.26s in the 600m and a total PB points of 187. In second place we had Olivia Vickers with PB of 9.0s in 55m hurdles, 0.88m in HJ, 2.55m in LJ, 3.20m in Shot and 2.46s in 600m and a total PB points of 147. For U11B Arnold Emeka who came first with PB of 8.7s in 55m hurdles, 0.93m in HJ, 3.14m in LJ, 3.70m in Shot and 2.17s in 600m. Oreofe Adepegba came 1st U13b with 75mH and 800m PB’s 1687pts further securing his No1 uk position for his age group. Fellow U13B Jamie Crane came 3rd with PB of 15.60s in 75m hurdles, 1.25m in HJ, 3.98m in LJ, 6.24m in shot and 2.49s in 800m and a total PB points of 1086. Sean Emeka who came 4th with PB of 15.9s in 75 Hurdles, 1.25m in HJ, 4.47m in LJ, 5.50m in shot and 2.58s in 800m and a total points of 1041.
