The second round of the Metaswitch Athletics competition went ahead at Lee Valley this weekend, kicking off the start of this years indoor athletics events.

Young and Senior athletes from Thurrock Harriers took part in track and field events during the day.

Under 17 boy athlete Liam Chivers had an amazing run in the 400m’s, running a fast time of 56.88s, a new PB. Kayode Odumosu also gained a PB in the 60m hurdles race, with a time of 9.60s, Kayode jumped a SB of 5.06m in the Long jump.

Under 17 girl, Jessica Whitbread took part in her first field event of the year, jumping a SB of 4.80m in Long jump and 9.72m in Triple Jump (also a SB) coming first in her age group. Rhea Starvi also jumped well on the day, gaining 8.74m in Triple Jump a PB for Rhea, she also gained a SB on Long Jump with a jump of 4.01m.

Senior woman Natalie Lebeau came 2nd in her age group, jumping 5.19m in Long Jump, a SB.

Under 20m man, Yinka Sopido represented the club racing in the 60m, coming first in his heat, gaining an amazing PB time of 7.14s. Nweike Nwabude also raced the 60m, securing a PB with a time of 7.24s, Nweika also took part in Long Jump, gaining a SB with a jump of 6.23m.

All coaches and parents are very proud of all the athletes and their efforts in this competition and look forward to see them achieve further success throughout the year.
