March 2018 Winner - Daniel Ogutuga - Aged 15 Daniel is always there ready to help others in the group, especially at competition. He endlessly tries his best to improve his main events, sprinting and long Jump. He helps to put equipment away at the end of the training sessions and is a great team player. Daniel thoroughly deserves this Jack Petchey Award. May 2018 Winner - Sara Sardi - Aged 14 Sara is a bubbly, friendly athlete. Helps youngsters with drills and always cheers everyone on from the club, Sara puts 100% into her competitions and is a pleasure to coach. Sara truly deserves this Jack Petchey Award. June 2018 Winner - Hayley Instance - Aged 16 Hayley is an excellent role model, and a true ambassador for her sport. This is also shown in helping, and being supportive to all the members in her training group. Hayley is consistent in representing Thurrock Harriers throughout the year competing as a team member, determined to put her utmost effort into all that she does. Hayley deserves to win The Jack Petchey Award. Sept 2018 Winner - Emily Butler - Aged 12 Reason for award : Emily is a very happy friendly girl, who will have a go at everything, even taken up hammer throwing. She proved she is a team player by stepping in without being asked to run a 1500m race for much needed points for the club. She is admired by her teammates for her selfless act. Emily Butler - Aged 12: Sept 2018 Winner
Oct 18 Winner - Liam Chivers - Aged 17 Reason for award : Being a part of Thurrock Harriers for many years, he has tried many disciplines, finding his forte in 400m running, but when asked to be part of the Essex Decathlon team had to learn to pole vault something he never had done, he trained hard and managed to complete all 10 events even though injured. Just trained as an assistant coach and is a great role model to our younger athletes.
