English Schools Athletics Association Championships July 2023

The Track and Field Championships 2023 was held at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham, on Friday 30th June and Saturday 1st July.
We had three Thurrock Harrier athletes represent their county.
Alice Coshell had an amazing performance representing Essex in the 75m hurdles, smashed her pb to win the heat in 11.34 secs. Looking calm and cool at the start of the final, she blasted out of her blocks and ran a smooth and elegant race to grab the silver medal. Later that day she also ran a commanding 2nd leg of the relay.
Jayne Elvin just missed out by a narrow margin for a place in the 800m final. However before her spikes had cooled down, she got a message at short notice, for selection to run for Essex again in the SEAA Inter Counties next day (Sunday) at Horspath Oxford. Jayne rarely turns down a chance to support the county. So she went, and In very windy conditions won the 800m. As they say, when one door shuts another one opens. Well done Jayne!
Charlie Seago also attended and jumped really well given the very windy conditions.
