The Essex Cross Country League season got off to a great start on Saturday 14th October with Thurrock Harriers hosting round 1 of the league at One Tree Hill, Corringham.
Blessed with sunshine and great course conditions our Harriers organisers and marshals were able to ensure everything went to plan ensuring the event was a great success.
With 29 clubs and over 600 athletes from across Essex competing, Thurrock’s athletes performed admirably.
We had Alfie Bumstead U13, Rhea Bryan U17, Kirsty Osborn SW, Gosia Baluka W40, Harvey Green SM, David Beatty M50, Olatunde Phillips Akerele M40 and Louis Le Roux M40 competing for the club in cross country for the first time, which bodes well for the future.

Lucas Willett 24th in the U17 men.

Our Senior Men’s team were 3rd overall in Div 1 which is our best result in years.
Pick of the results has to go to Ben Prior finishing 4th overall and gaining automatic Essex Selection.
There was also an Essex League U11 school year5/6 development race.
